THE AZERBAIJAN CENTRE FOR LITERARY

TRANSLATION AND LITERARY RELATIONS

 

 

The centre is headed by the well-known  writer Afag Masud.

The Azerbaijan Centre for Literary Translation and Literary Relations which is operating at the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan was created by the order of 6 March 1989 of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The aims of the Centre are:

Translation and dissemination of the best pieces of world literature into Azerbaijani;

Translation of the best pieces of Azerbaijani literature into world languages;

Advocacy of literary translation;

Informing the readers about the translation from and into Azerbaijani;

Collaboration with the publishing houses operating in the Republic and beyond the boundaries of the country in order to organize the translation activities more successfully;

Publication of works on translation theory and history;

Translating into Azerbaijani the most interesting publications and almanacs released in the languages of foreign nations;

To support the training of professional translators, etc.

 The Azerbaijan Centre for Literary Translation and Literary Relations publishes a quarterly journal “Khazar”.

The editor-in-chief of the journal is Afag Masud.

In 1991-2007 the Centre published about 70 translation works as separate books.
